Jim Mahoney, author of “Get Mahoney” and Founder/CEO of Jim Mahoney & Associates (later Mahoney-Wasserman & Assoc.) was one of the most respected and revered entertainment PR professionals from the early 1950’s though 2000’s. In his new memoir he shares his experiences about the golden age of Hollywood – from the days when he was growing up and would crawl under the fences of Culver City’s most important studios (MGM, Selznick and Hal Roach) to working with some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, music stars ranging from Neil Diamond and Bob Dylan to the Rolling Stones and U2 along with multi-national corporations including Hilton Hotels and AT&T.
Mahoney’s experience reaches back to the early days of modern PR. Mahoney has seen the PR industry evolve over his 50+ year career relates the business from its earliest days to today’s modern social-media and 24/7 news environment.
“I’ve been very lucky in life, but I’ve also made my luck by being in the right place at the right time,” Mahoney says. “One such example was when I met my wife and life partner Patricia Marston. If it wasn’t for her backing and support of me and my career, during the ups and downs that naturally flow in any business, I never would have had the guts to go for it and succeed. She also gave me five beautiful children, Jim Jr., Marilee, Sean (wife Cher), Michael and Monica (husband Paul), five grandchildren, Bridget, Amy, Timmy, Isabella and Ava, and grandson, Owen.
