Cover Redesign: 'Eastside Story'

This month, Michelle Argyle Park of Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of Eastside Story by Steven C. Thedford. To submit a book for a free cover redesign, email us at booklifeeditor@booklife.com.

Design Note #1: While I loved the idea of the original cover, it doesn’t quite feel finished. I decided to create a more finished piece of artwork that zooms in on the characters.

Design Note #2: The story hinges on an evening event in Atlanta. Using the city skyline and a dark, starry background helps pull that idea together.

Design Note #3: It’s important to let the title of a book be the first thing the reader notices. Increasing the title size and using a free-spirited, but classy serif font really draws attention to the intriguing title.

Design Note #4: I added an endorsement from another author to give the reader an immediate glimpse into the story’s atmosphere.
