Raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Alicia Cahalane Lewis is a ninth-generation Valley Quaker. She spends time contemplating the origins of the Universe, parlays that into verse, and sees herself as a witness to the stories of the early settlers’ perseverance and appreciation for the bounty and beauty of the earth. She holds an MFA in creative writing from Naropa University where her poetry appeared in Not Enough Night.
Alicia is the author of the self-care book, The Intrepid Meditator, self-published by Tattered Script Publishing (2021). Her novellas Room Service Please and Restless, were both published by Tattered Script Publishing (2022 and 2023). Her forthcoming novella, The Faeries of Fable Island will be published in the Spring of 2024 by Tattered Script Publishing.
She is the author of the book-length poem nebulous beginnings and strings featuring art by Shenandoah Valley artist, Winslow McCagg. (Tattered Press, 2017). Her chapbook, The Fish Turned the Waters Over so the Birds Would Have a Sky, a contemplative meditation on the origins of evolution, was published by The Lune Chapbook Series, Summer, 2017. Her poetry e-book, If There Are Parallel Dimensions Let This One Be a Reminder, was published in January 2020 courtesy of Liquid Light Press and is available on the Internet Poets’ Cooperative website. A Reiki Master, meditation teacher, and contributor on the writing platform, Medium, Alicia enjoys writing Reiki-inspired healing articles.
