Bill Thompson has written widely on every aspect of travel, from urban adventures to wilderness basics. Bill Thompson has written widely on every aspect of travel, from urban adventures to wilderness basics. His explorations span 40 years on five continents, including 48 of the 50 U.S. States, and have produced more than 70 published articles. Apart from his travel writing, Thompson generates articles on the arts for the national print and online editions of Charleston Style and Design magazine, book reviews and author interviews for the national print and online editions of Kirkus Reviews, and varied articles on books, film and the performing arts. His previous book, “Art and Craft: 30 Years on the Literary Beat,” was published by The University of South Carolina Press in 2015. He is currently at work on a book on motion picture history. A member of the National Book Critics Circle, and a former member of the Southeastern Film Critics Circle and Southeastern Film Critics Association, he was a travel editor, arts writer, book review editor and film critic for The Post and Courier from 1980 to 2012.
