Bruce Mitchell has worked as a labourer, shop assistant, musician, clerk, educator, waiter, bookmaker, public servant, consultant and corporate director. His business career took him travelling the world, with expatriate stints in South East Asia and New Zealand. His writing history began as a copywriter with a Sydney advertising agency, writing print and radio scripts for products as diverse as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, car-tyres and frozen foods. He has written, produced, narrated and directed several training and marketing videos in the corporate world. His first novel, “Wide Sky People”, follows the Thornton family on their epic 19th century adventure across the world to a life of challenge, love, laughter and drama in the frontier colony of New South Wales, Australia. The second volume of the Thornton Series titled “Breaking Lucky” was published in early 2021, and features the family on their adventures in Sydney, World War One and the Australian outback in the 1910’s. The third volume, 'Wild Fennel', released in July 2022, follows the Thorntons through Sydney's chaotic 1920's and 30's. Bruce also released a 'stand alone' novel in 2021 entitled “Dare the Dark”, a gripping murder/thriller set in Sydney, 1879. Bruce lives in the Northern Beaches district of Sydney.
