Chamein Canton is a leading voice in the curvy world. First with her groundbreaking fashion book, Down That Aisle In Style, A Wedding Guide For Full-Figured Women, and later with her romances that featured curvy main characters. A native New Yorker by way of Long Island, her unique sense of humor is a combination of her mother’s southern upbringing and her father’s polished cosmopolitan life as a native of Harlem, New York. The mother of now twin adult sons, Sean and Scott Snowden, whom she raised as a divorced mother with MS, was the recipient of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Mother of the Year Award in 2002 for the Long Island Chapter. Chamein received a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice award for Best African American romance for Not His Type in 2007. She had several books published traditionally by both Genesis Press (Now defunct) and Etopia Press. Now she is seeking to change the way north of forty and fifty plus characters are seen in fiction. Instead of hen-lit, or matron-lit, Chamein calls it still a chick lit, fiction for women who are north of 40 and 50, who haven't handed in their standing as being a chick for hot-flashes, hormone replacement therapy, or bifocals. Her novels prove that life north of 40 is anything but cold.
