With an undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Diane Lane Chambers has enjoyed a career as a professional sign language interpreter for over 40 years. She is the author of two other nonfiction books: Hearing the Stream: A Survivor’s Journey into the Sisterhood of Breast Cancer and Fragile Minds: An Advocate’s Story. She is also the producer and narrator of SSPs: What Are They and Why Are They Necessary?, a DVD about Support Service Providers for persons with hearing and vision loss. Active in the National League of American Pen Women, she serves as the Denver Branch president. In her free time she follows legislation and advocates for reform of our nation’s privacy laws and involuntary commitment statues to remove barriers to treatment for persons with serious mental illness.
