I hail from North Carolina these days, but I was born and raised in Albany, New York, and lived in Syracuse, New York, from age 18 through age 50. I love North Carolina, but Central New York still has a strong hold on my heart and is often in my thoughts and in my books.

When I’m not writing, I’m reading a wide range of literature and genres, although mysteries are my favorite books of choice.  

If I’m not reading, I’m watching movies from my favorite film era, the 1950s. I keep a list of movies that I watch at least once a year, and I have a list of authors whose books I look forward to reading each time a new one is released. 

I’m a lifelong advocate of social justice. That also makes me politically active. I believe that participation in the democratic process is our obligation as citizens. I believe in the greater good and that, with freedom, comes responsibility. Silence, when faced with injustice, is complicity. I will not be silent.

My husband, children, and grandchild are the lights on my journey. Through them, I’ve learned what unconditional love is.

I publish my nonfiction books under my full name, Dianne Liuzzi Hagan. My fiction is published under Dianne L. Hagan. 

I am an affiliate member of Mystery Writers of America. I received an MFA in creative nonfiction from Queens University in Charlotte.
