"I don't write for money. I write for the sheer pleasure of creating something out of nothing... Much like a painting. One then has a glimpse into someone else's reality."
Belmont was born in Amsterdam into a family obsessed with the ocean. Sailing, swimming, diving, surfing, anything to do with water, always in search of new horizons to explore. Consequently, Belmont ended up here, there, and everywhere. His fascination for physics, philosophy and the power of imagination began around age fourteen and led him to pursue his higher education in physics and astronomy in the UK, eventually focusing on quantum electrodynamics and quantum entanglement. Thereafter, unable to be pinned to one place, Belmont ventured into various career paths mostly from Europe to Asia, from academia to art dealing. It is his love for art, science, and the myths of objectivity that led Belmont to start writing about his own perceptions of the world as well as those that he encounters on daily basis. Belmont's writing is aimed to be simple and accessible. Inspired by the likes of Aldous Huxley and William Golding, he attempts to tackle the difficult existential questions raised by our discoveries of the laws of nature through fiction and fantasy.
