Erica Haughton is a mother and a Licensed Social Worker; two roles that she holds very dear to her heart. Erica’s son, Kayden inspired the creation of the Silent Sam character, for when he was a younger child, he experienced a developmental delay that impacted his ability to express himself verbally.
Erica, hopes to write stories that uplift children. She very much, would like children, to learn that it is so important to travel through life, genuinely, accepting who they are, as they are. Challenges experienced in life can cause children to feel alone, discouraged and with lessened self-confidence. Such challenges may include having a "disability," that may impact them physically, intellectually or emotionally. Also losing a loved one, feeling inferior due to outward appearance, having difficulty making friends, and so on. Books can open doors to overcoming and healing.
Erica, resides in Brooklyn, New York and is of Jamaican descent. Erica plans to continue to create meaningful books for children. In the meantime, she is spending quality time with her family. Movie nights and baking a batch of soft chocolate chip cookies have become a tradition in her home.
