I am a mom, a writer, a scientist, and an athlete from Colorado. I have a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder (where I played intercollegiate basketball in the 90's) and Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology from the University of Colorado Denver. After my post-doc at National Jewish Health, I left academia to raise my kids and to pursue a writing career. I write fiction and nonfiction, and my new book with co-author Luke Comer called On the Origin of Being: Understanding the Science of Evolution to Enhance Your Quality of Life finally gave me the opportunity to bring my scientific training and my passion for writing together.
