Josiah J. Starr established Spirit of 1811 Publishing in 2019 in order to promote an agenda of empowerment within the Black Community through authentic black owned and controlled media. Born to a military family living in Erlangon Germany, Josiah was well traveled as a young child before ultimately settling down in the small town of Homer, Louisiana. After graduating from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Josiah served as a Commissioned Officer in the USCG. Having successfully completed his military service, Josiah has earned his Merchant Mariners license and currently sails ocean going towboats. Always an avid reader and consumer of novels, Josiah decided to push away the fear of failure and author his own novel. Since that moment of bravery, Josiah has authored two novels, "War of the Heart: An Achim Jeffers Novel" and the Sci/Fi/Thriller "Nothing Will Come Between Us".
