About K. Blanton Brenner
I grew up in North Texas in a large extended family that raised horses and holy hell and, in between, sang together in four part harmony. I met a drummer from Chicago, married him and moved to the windy city where we raised our children. I co-founded a Montessori school that has an inclusion program for children who are deaf. For several years, I wrote and read stories from my life on WBEZ, the NPR station in Chicago. I've also co-authored two books with my husband, Tom (a gerontologist) about the application of the Montessori Method for positive dementia care. Our first book, is "You Say Goodbye and We Say Hello" and our second book is "The Montessori Method for Connecting to People with Dementia." Both are available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Barbara's Bookstores.
My debut novel, Appaloosa Sky is the story of strong Texas women who break horses and hearts. The three O'Brien sisters grew up loving Nancy Drew and trusting their mentor, Ginny, the fiery matriarch of their family. "Appaloosa Sky" lives in a genre somewhere between Nancy Drew and Lonesome Dove.. I hope you have as much reading it as I had writing it!
My second novel,, Trinity Rivers Trilogy was published in February, 2023.
It is a family saga that explores this central question: Life is feckless and random or life is filled with meaning and revelation. This is the story of the Quinn family, musicians who believe that music can change lives and create bridges between cultures and countries. It is also the story of a Scottish soldier, Robbie MacKaye, whose life is completely upended when he meets a girl at a train station, a girl named Lisabet Jordan Quinn.
Three rivers flow through lives shattered by violence and betrayal. They bear witness to the healing power of music and the grace found in a battered but enduring love, a love story that survives the lengthening shadows of time.
