L.Y. Abu Al Rub's life has been a journey through the kaleidoscope of both Western and Arabian culture. Born to Palestinian parents, she grew up primarily in the UK, with brief stints in Saudi Arabia and childhood visits to Kuwait. Yet, her connection to her heritage remained strong as she embarked on a personal exploration of the MENA region. She lived in Tunisia for twenty two years and has travelled to Jordan, Iraq, Algeria, and Libya, as well as visited Turkiye. This odyssey revealed the stunning depth and diversity of Arab and Eastern culture, where traditions and dialects shift dramatically across borders. L.Y. Abu Al Rub's academic background ( which includes degrees in literature and education) fuels her ability to translate these experiences into stories that capture the essence of Arab life in all its richness; Her middle-grade tales weave allegories born from a yearning heart. A self-proclaimed overachiever fuelled by dark humour, her relentless spirit infuses her writing with fantastical worlds. Now in Australia with her husband and seven children, she finds laughter in the chaos, comfort in reading, and the warmth of her kitchen - when it's not ablaze from her culinary experiments.
