Hello there! No matter how you might have found yourself on this page, welcome. I’m glad to have you here. I’m an author and appreciator of all things science fiction and fantasy. When it comes to writing I go by M. Weald, but my friends know me as either the first or last part of Michael Woodworth. I have one published novel at this point, The Work of Restless Nights. It's a science fiction novel inspired by the likes of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Blade Runner, and Ghost in the Shell. It grapples with one central question in a cyberpunk Earth sliding between virtual and augmented realities: As humans become more machine-like, and machines more human, what then does it mean to be alive? Check it out if that piques your interest. If you're still reading and want to know more about me, well, look no further.
I live in the Colorado Front Range, somewhere in that ever-widening urban corridor between Boulder and Denver. Like most in Colorado, I enjoy all things outdoors, be it rock climbing, hiking, biking, skiing, or snowboarding. You might run into me and my partner on a crag, trail, or slope in the area. If you do, you’re more than welcome to say hello. There is the option of hiking around the Rockies yelling “M. Weald” at the top of your lungs, seeing if anyone responds, though perhaps that isn’t advisable. I enjoy playing my guitar when I have the time and going out on one of my motorcycles when weather accommodates. My day job is that of an engineer, but I dream of my creative writing minor being used as more than an indication to my employers that I can in fact write coherent emails. I like to say I collect stories to validate my increasingly sizeable collection of physical media. Books, TV shows, movies, and video games all line my shelves. What can I say, I have a soft spot for stories I can hold in my hand.
Check out my website if you want to stay up to date on my meanderings.
All the best,
M. Weald
