Once a globe-trotting corporate executive, and long before that, a stay-at-home mom, Marcia Breece now lives on the Washington Coast where she has found her authentic Self.
Marcia’s corporate career included working to establish wireless communication networks in India, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. In the 1990s, during her employment with AT&T Wireless, she worked in Pune, Goa, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. In 1999, she returned to India for a three-month assignment for GTE helping to establish wireless and Internet service in Chandigarh, Punjab.
Writing first became her outlet in the late 70s when she began journaling. In the 80s she wrote user manuals and in the 90s she wrote articles for technical magazines but longed to write from her heart. After years of working in a corporate environment, Marcia realized she couldn’t breathe deep enough and still show up at the office. A line from Mary Oliver’s poem said it all . . . are you breathing just a little and calling it a life? (“Have You Ever Tried to Enter the Long Black Branches.”)
She left her corporate career in 2005 to buy a llama farm and open a B&B. Her hens provided fresh eggs, the ducks, and geese ate the slugs in the garden and five llamas provided fiber that became beautiful rugs. As much as she loved the animals, she found that farm chores and tending to B&B guests left little time for writing. In 2011 she sold the farm and moved to the Washington coast where she lives with her two Havanaese, Dora and Ellie. “My wanderlust has passed. This is what I need for now.”
