Marco North has been a circus welder, a short-order cook, and an instrument builder for the Blue Man Group. A Brooklyn native, he attended one of the country’s first Montessori schools before the North family moved to Otego, New York, where they ran a pig farm.

Marco North has been a circus welder, a short-order cook, and an instrument builder for the Blue Man Group. A Brooklyn native, he attended one of the country’s first Montessori schools before the North family moved to Otego, New York, where they ran a pig farm.
His bittersweet stories about everyday people have been presented at Lincoln Center and La Mama, etc., and have been published in Stray Dog, Red Wheelbarrow, the Black River Review, Poetry New York, On the Page, Colè€re, Lonesome Traveler, Vox Populi, Travel & Leisure, and the Raven Chronicles.
In between writing and directing independent films (Blackbetty, Whale), he records alt. folk songs under the band name Martin Ruby and has released two studio albums, Heaven Get Behind Me and Jacob and the Angel. Marco spent fifteen years in Moscow, Russia, before moving to Tbilisi, Georgia. He publishes an award-winning blog, Impressions of an Expat, with readers from over 130 countries.
