Margaret Kirby retired in 2012 after a career of working with homeless individuals in Washington, DC. Following her retirement, she enrolled in writing classes and invested time in pursuing creative writing.
She published her first novel, Becoming Nora, in 2021.

Margaret Kirby retired in 2012 after a career of working with homeless individuals in Washington, DC. Following her retirement, she enrolled in writing classes and invested time in pursuing creative writing.
She published her first novel, Becoming Nora, in 2021.
The novel was the Runner-Up in the 2019 Great Novel Contest sponsored by the Ohio Writers Association and Columbus Publishing Lab.
In 2020, Becoming Nora was a semi-finalist in the Hidden River Arts Eludia award.
In 2022, Becoming Nora received an Independent Press Award: Distinguished Favorite in the category of Literary Fiction
She is a member of the Rehoboth Beach Writer’s Guild, the Eastern Shore Writers Association, and the Writer’s Center in Bethesda, MD.
She has stories, poems, and memoir essays published in various anthologies.
Margaret is currently working on a novel entitled The Music Room.
