Marilyn Benner Sowyak was one of the entertainment industry's top medical consultants for over twenty years. Her credits include Emmy winners: Law & Order, As the World Turns, One Life to Live, Guiding Light, and Another World.  As Medical Advisor and Script Supervisor, Sowyak worked with the writing teams to create and develop medical storylines. 

"I've become a master at creating medical stories and bringing them to life on the screen," Benner says, "Now, I tell my own stories.”

Marilyn Benner Sowyak is a Registered Nurse who has worked in the Emergency Departments of New York City's Bellevue Hospital, Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York Hospital Cornell, Saint Vincent's Hospital, Orlando Regional Medical Center, and Carolinas Medical Center Main in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has recently retired from nursing after almost fifty years.

Sowyak loves writing, nursing, being with family, playing with children, gardening, and watching flowers grow. Most of all, she loves being present when a baby is born or a life is saved. 

I always made time for nursing during my busy career because it was what I was born to do.
