Mary Kay Holmes (she/her) grew up in New Mexico, and graduated from the UNM after studying Theatrical Design. After several years of working in the film industry, Mary Kay began focusing on writing full-time. In the last two years, Mary Kay had a pilot script make the top five in the Big Break Screenwriting Contest, while another was awarded 2nd round at the Austin Film Festival and top three at Cinequest. She has had several short stories and essays published, including on Every Day Fiction. Through classes at Writing Pad, UCLA, Masterclass, Roadmap, and Harvard she has studied the art of researching and writing while completing her first two novels. This year she also started a successful Hall and Oates podcast with an anthropologist friend where the two examine the world through the music, and pop culture surrounding, Hall and Oates. In addition to Mary Kay's work on an ongoing collection of short stories and scripts, she has also recently completed her third novel, an LGBTQIA+ historical SciFi based on the life of Jesus Christ. Mary Kay's two most recently published pieces are an essay for Spoonie Press (https://bit.ly/3OV08Ot), and another for Slackjaw (https://bit.ly/3zluLYb).
