In 2019, just before the pandemic hit, Pamela began harvesting forty years of songwriting and poetry journals to create a few books—and fun! She began to submit her poetry to various contests and journals, hoping to find an enjoyable new hobby. The first poem she submitted, “Mrs. Creekmore’s May Peas,” about the mass shooting at Virginia Beach’s Courthouse, won first place in a conference competition. The second poem she submitted was selected for publication in an anthology of Virginia poets, and off she went with her new hobby!
Now Pamela’s award-winning poems appear in multiple journals, magazines and international anthologies. Three of her poems will appear in the Poetry Society of Virginia’s Centennial Anthology, to be published in 2023. Her full-length poetry collections, The Right Mistakes and The Widow’s Lovers, are available from her publisher Kelsay Books and from Amazon. Pamela’s chapbook, As I Lay Dreaming, is available on Amazon. You can reach her at pbdenyes.com.
