A graduate of Stetson University, Scott began work with Florida's Department of Insurance in 1972, leaving to become an instructor with the Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA) where he worked in each of the associations divisions during his 37 year tenure. His last position was Executive Vice President in charge of public relations and legislative affairs. Since that time he has hosted one of the most widely read independent property & casualty blog sites in Florida and trained hundreds insurance agents remotely for their Continuing Education credits.
Scott has also written five books on insurance issues, published hundreds of white papers and articles and, as an experienced statutory drafter, has had many original concepts passed into final law.
He has served on numerous industry committee's and boards, is hired as an expert witness and testifies before legislative committees on various insurance matters.
Scott was awarded the Mitchell Stallings award for a lifetime of achievement, the highest honor possible from the FAIA.
He is a past president of the Florida Society of Association Executives, a charter member of the Accredited Adviser of Insurance (AAI) designation, and one of the youngest ever to receive the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation.
Scott's peers voted him Florida's Association Executive of the Year in 1995.
His latest book, "Collapse of an Evil Empire" was approved by the Pulitzer Foundation in the Non-fiction book category.
