I was born and raised in the Midwest and 17 years ago was lured to Hawaii by its epic waves, healing sunshine and aloha spirit. For the past 27 years, I've worked in the finance industry, and most recently for one of the largest Community Development Financial Institutions in the country, helping developers to structure loans to finance affordable housing. My role is to articulate the story that the numbers reveal. In 2016, I felt a calling to extend my storytelling to the realm of fiction. There are human beings in this world who don’t have a voice, who have been silenced out of fear or shame, or drowned out by society. I want to be that voice for them. I want the words on the pages to shout out their stories; the abused, the forgotten, the mentally ill, the homeless, those who are different than the majority. My past experience working with homeless people, my passion for getting their stories out, combined with my vivid imagination, help to provide a backdrop for a compelling story.
