British born and raised but now living permanently in Spain, Steven has spent most of his adult life living in countries other than where he was originally brought into the World. This has led him to experience new cultures, ways of thinking, beliefs, ideologies, similarities and unfair differences.
Because of this, a common theme runs throughout Steven´s books – that of social justice. His first two novels, "The Butcherbird Tree" and "We Are the Tide", which form a two-book series, bring to light those in society that live with what are often erroneously described as personality disorders. Autism, schizophrenia and dissociative personality disorder all feature in his work, while post-traumatic epilepsy and substance-induced psychosis appear in one form or another.
His third novel, “Desert of Solitude” – a stand-alone story set against the backdrop of the Zapatista rebellion in Mexico in 1994 – deals with the persecution much of the indigenous population faces in today´s world.
Steven became a writer later in life but has eventually followed a childhood dream; not to become rich and famous, but to shed light on issues and tell stories that he sincerely believes should be told.
