Susan K. Field is an author of stories that celebrate women. An excerpt from Eleanor’s Song won a national Kay Snow Writing Award, Short Story Fiction category, 2021. Her recent creative nonfiction, poetry, and nonfiction have been published in literary journals and anthologies,
She holds a master's degree in writing and is a member of Willamette Writers and Northwest Independent Writers Association.
Before Susan started writing full-time, she worked in organizational communications: writing, editing, and serving as media spokesperson for local government, a small business, and community nonprofits.
During that period, Susan also had the opportunity to champion the voices of those who could not advocate for themselves. From A to V: She defended homeless and rescued animals, children with significant special needs, and victims of domestic abuse. Her feature articles and essays from this advocacy work appeared in commercial magazines, trade journals, blogs, and newspapers.
Susan felt called to write Elennor's Song and share some real-life experiences from interviews she held with domestic violence survivors. Eleanor's Song is a testament to one woman in particular whose grit and determination enabled her cling to hope.
She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and has a penchant for hiking woodland trails.
