In recent times, the population of overweight people is overwhelmingly on the rise, with many people trying to lose weight one way or another. Unfortunately for some, the result is mostly unsuccessful. Are you part of this group of people or know someone who is? This book is for you. From it, you will learn how to lose weight successfully and naturally, and as an added advantage, you don't have to break the bank or join a gym to achieve this.
Break the Chains of Dieting by David Medansky exposes the secret to easy and effective weight loss and the cause of weight gain in most people. It's an educative and informative book that, if properly implemented, will help you achieve your weight loss goal and more. Not only will you lose weight, but your overall health will also be improved, as you will be living a healthier lifestyle. Break the Chains of Dieting is a guide to achieving a healthy lifestyle.
Being overweight was something I struggled with, and I'm still struggling with it as I write this review. I was bullied and suffered from low self-esteem. Being asked to review this book came as a gift to me because, as it stands, it seems like I've found the answer to my biggest problem on a silver platter.
Will you regard a problem with an obvious solution as a problem? I don't think so. This is because you only need to implement a workable solution to your problem and find it solved. That's exactly how I feel about the book Break the Chains of Dieting. It feels like the solution to my problem, as it contains practical secrets to weight loss. It is helpful because the author utilizes the principles to get a positive result for himself. One of the secrets he shares is eating healthy. Eating healthy doesn't mean you should go on a diet; the author brings a simple, yet ignored, aspect of healthy eating. Does this already go against what you know about weight loss? Are you already trapped in the general belief that you must go on a diet to successfully lose weight? Well, you will find one of the many secrets to successfully losing weight hidden in plain sight in this book. You will also know why you should avoid processed food.
I found the book easy to read and assimilate because the author shared stories and relatable lessons to weight loss. I especially found his story the most inspiring, as he was nearing certain death before deciding to lose weight. I found it inspiring because he did indeed lose weight and is already living healthy. So, all hope isn't lost for me and countless others who desperately need the solution in this book.
The greatest lesson I learned from the book that pertained to weight loss and life was always to be positive. I've learned how to implement positivity in my life through mantras. I implemented it the second day of reading this book, and it helped me cross a particular hurdle in my life.
I found the author's questions for people struggling with weight loss and the affirmations to losing weight helpful, as they would serve as a positive guide for readers in their weight loss journey.
Overall, I found Break the Chains of Dieting a beneficial book and had no issues with it, as it was easy to read, educative, and had minimal editing problems. Therefore, I would give it a perfect rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I would recommend it to people seeking to lose weight and those struggling with weight loss.

How many times have you gone on a diet? If you have dealt with excess weight, then there is a good chance you have tried at least one. But after going off your diet, you may have gained all of the lost weight back and more. Why are diets ineffective for weight loss and maintenance? In Break the Chains of Dieting, David Medansky explains why diets fail while providing advice on losing weight healthily and effectively. Readers will learn about the dangers of artificial sweeteners, setting healthy weight loss goals, how to think more positively about themselves, and much more. David has struggled with obesity and was able to lose a quarter of his total body weight. Because of his experience, David feels that this book will help others feel more confident in their abilities to change their lives.
The honest tone David uses is what I enjoyed most in this book. As hard as it is to hear the things he says, I loved that he was not afraid to say things how they were. In one instance, he told readers that they did not become overweight overnight; instead, they became so because of years of bad food choices. Readers should be ready to take a hard look at themselves if they are serious about becoming healthier. David clearly states that no one is to blame for an unhealthy lifestyle except the person who chose to live that way.
Learning about affirmations and declarations was something that I also liked. Honestly, using affirmations is not new to me; I use them every day when I do my work and exercises. However, using declarations with affirmations was a fresh concept to me. For example, one can affirm that they are in a healthy weight range while declaring that they make better food choices each day. I appreciated David for teaching his readers how to use these concepts together.
If there is one thing I would change, it would be for the author to add citations at the end of the book. David talks about two components in the American water system that are dangerous for American citizens to consume, but the Environmental Protection Agency has said they are safe anyway. I found information about it, but having the citations available would have made this research nearly effortless. This fallacy is also true for his discussion about artificial sweeteners.
Even though I would have liked a list of citations available, I do not think this was enough to deduct a star. Break the Chains of Dieting deserves nothing less than 4 out of 4 stars for its excellent presentation, research-backed opinions, and valuable information. Two instances of profanity are at the beginning of this book, but these profane words are the only ones throughout the text. A prayer to a higher being is in the introduction, but David does not talk about a specific religion in the book. Americans who want to live a healthier lifestyle or lose some weight will likely benefit from what this title has to offer.

When his doctor told him he had to lose weight or risk having a heart attack by a chance of 95%, David Medansky knew something had to change about his eating habits. In writing Break the Chains of Dieting, David Medansky aims to separate the myths from the facts about weight loss and to guide readers to a healthy and sustainable weight loss through nine "must-have fundamental principles". The fundamental principles, which are born out of thousands of hours of research, enlighten readers about the adequate amount of water to drink per day, the dangers of processed and manufactured foods, maintaining healthy eating habits based on frequency and portions, and more helpful information. Break the Chains of Dieting takes readers through a less expensive weight-loss journey as it shows how it can be done without wasting money on costly diets and supplements, counting calories, and following particular exercise programs.
You know a book has left a significant impact on you if your choices and habits are affected by it before you even finish reading it.
