I have both the print copy and the e-book for Bruden of Faete... I just love this world. In this sequel, Titus and Ryanne continue their romantic and epic journey, dealing with fae, pirates (bradai), and plenty of wicked humans.
As far as the main plot the book continued to follow Titus and Ryanne as she tries to figure out what makes his kind tick... and he tries to escape his kind and master himself despite the dark whispers inside him. There was some more world traveling, both in the fae lands and on Earth. And Kara, Titus' 'sister' gets more page time. His relationship with her is fascinating and I really enjoyed delving further into his 'found family'. As far as Ryanne goes, for me her encounters with the water nymphs were the best.
I love that Ryanne is strong in her own way without ever becoming just a trope for a strong female. She doesn't fight... she feels. And there is something just brilliant about that
This picks up immediately after A Touch of Faete, and finds Ryanne trying to come to grips with the tension between her mission and her feelings for Titus. Titus on the other hand is also learning that there is more to who he is than the darkness that dwells in him and drives him to do its bidding. This story really ramps up the lore behind the Bradais and the Fae, and has plenty edge of the seat moments.
Because this is book 2 in a series, I don’t want to give too much information, but I do want to say that Ligia has greatly improved her story craft. I’m very impressed.
The worldbulding is extremely well done. I especially liked how immersed I felt in the lore for the Bradais. The romance subplot flows better with the story this time around. The romance is still there, but it’s balanced by more character maturity and the higher stakes of the story. That isn’t a criticism of book one by any means, but simply a note on how strong this story is.
I highly recommend you start reading this series. I’m very happy with my experience, and I’m looking forward to book 3.
