Liz has just gotten married to Brad, who she met during a previous investigation in her job as a private investigator. Soon after the wedding, Brad and Liz head to Grand Cayman for their honeymoon, but what first starts as the perfect tropical escape for the newlyweds turns into a missing persons investigation. Brad's best friend and former business partner, who had relocated to Grand Cayman and had recently finished a manuscript for a thriller set on the island, suddenly goes missing. Liz is quick to use her skills to help find their friend and is soon convinced that Tim's thriller about corruption and laundering on the island is closer to reality than he had let on.
Set on a beautiful tropical island, Cayman Conundrum is full of fun and quirky characters and a mystery with twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the last page. The best and cutest character has to be Duke, who helps Liz solve mysteries through his special ability of barking when someone isn't being truthful. Liz is the main character and is very likable, as well as being very good at her job. She never gives up on an investigation even if it's her honeymoon! It was an interesting dynamic reading the story as she juggles trying to enjoy her honeymoon and investigating Tim's disappearance.
There are some callbacks to previous books in the series, but it isn't necessary to read the books in order. Hearing about previous cases and characters will likely make readers want to read the previous books to find out how those cases were solved!
Cayman Conundrum is a wonderful story set in a beautiful location sprinkled with mysteries and a dash of danger. Perfect for fans of cozy mysteries with cute animals!
