Finding God
“One night in Laos, I stretched out on a straw mat and looked up into the dark sky. I had never seen so many stars. Staring out into space, I just knew there was a Creator. There was somebody watching over me. In the middle of the jungle in Laos, I felt God.” Born into an atheist family in former East Germany, Claudia Seise spent years searching for her spiritual home before finding peace and tranquility in Islam. In Finding God, she celebrates God’s guidance by recounting the conversion stories of more than 40 people from all over the world. From a young man seeing a coworker’s dedication to his Friday prayer service to a high school student enjoying the hospitality of a friend’s family… From a researcher inspired by the Muslim women she was studying to a Christian missionary reading the Qur’an she received as a gift… These diverse stories explore just some of the manifold paths God uses to turn His servants’ hearts toward Him. In the latter portion of the book, short essays provide methods for grounding oneself in the faith and living Islam with purpose. Finding God is a valuable companion in the ongoing process of drawing nearer to Him.

An Excellent Companion Book to Project Lina

Review by Umm K. on 15 Aug 2024review stating An Excellent Companion Book to Project LinaI was hooked from the opening paragraph! This is a lovely book of convert stories from around the world, followed by a series of practical tips for implementing Islam in our lives.

As a North American convert myself, I've heard so many stories similar to my own. What I particularly loved about this book was reading stories from European Read more about review stating An Excellent Companion Book to Project Lina

and Asian converts. It really broadened my world view and opened my eyes to the myriad of challenges faced by other convert sisters: especially those coming from outside of the Abrahamic faith tradition. The stories are a mix of uplifting, heart-breaking, inspiring, and gut-wrenching tales; but each one ends on a positive note, with a take-away that's certain to hit hard and stick with you.

The second half of the book focuses on practical ways to implement Islam in our lives. It's very friendly and "new Muslim" focused. As I was reading along, I couldn't help but think of what an awesome companion book this would be to Project Lina. While both books are written from the female perspective, I do think male converts would also enjoy and benefit from the reads. I can definitely see myself going back to this book, again & again, for beautiful reminders and inspiration. Highly recommend it!
