The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning (LGBTQI+) bars, drinking and dancing establishments were not just party scenes but were really sanctuaries for that community. As a matter of fact, many people in the LGBTQI+ community treated these happy places as second homes or even primary homes if their families were close minded towards the community. They did indeed forge Pride and this book was the first to tell that story.
A timely book about a subject for equal rights, it will provide readers with knowledge of overt and covert discrimination in America. The author, former human rights judge and historian, Michael Boyajian....The theme is about how the LGBTQ community was violated by society and the impact of bars, taverns, and clubs.
Gary A. Kulhanjian, Social historian
Local author and former human rights judge Michael Boyajian explains how the LGBTQ community created their own safe havens and how watering holes were central nodes in gay activism as well as social life. In a timely discussion about civil rights, Boyajian informs readers of how the LGBTQ community has been secretly and not so secretly discriminated against by society.

New York Times: Pope Francis Allows Priests to Bless Same-Sex Relationships
BREAKING LGBTQI+ NEWS SAD TIDINGS: September 24, 2023 - We were alerted this week that the homophobic Chick-fil-A opened at a New York State Thruway rest stop near Newburgh. We shouted out to the community about this travesty in the first state to legislatively legalize marriage equality. To our dismay we learned today from marriage equality icon Michael Sabatino that they had launched a full court press against the opening to no avail and they are at every Thruway rest stop in the state now and of course closed Sundays the biggest travel day for millions of weekend tourists returning home. When you reach the mountaintop in America they are not supposed to pull you off that shining city on the hill.
“…amazing…Pride book is unbelievable with the colors making the book …thank you…now I have 13 books for you to sign,” — Sal J. Calise, former club owner.
