HI, MY NAME IS WAYNE Chaffey and I served in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF)
from 1980 – 2011, with some breaks in between, my job title being: Ground Support Equipment
Fitter (GSEFITT).
This is my story about my 24 years of working in the Defence Force.
I talk about my ups and downs associated with this career choice, and also give an insight
of how life can be when compared to any other career path, and not necessarily what many perceive
as too disciplined and restrictive.
Although only a Corporal when I was discharged, I too have a story to tell, which many will
find relatable with more in the way of ground roots situations, applicable to the ordinary ranks.
