Doug Martin and Tony Drake are detectives involved in a shootout with drug dealers. Tony is killed and Doug is also shot in the head but survives. When Tony's wife brings his lucky fifty-cent piece to Doug in the hospital, he can hear and see his old partner. They not only solve their case but a cold case of a murdered woman with the help of Doug's new African American female partner, Amy Foster.
