While most of us take the Web for granted and consider its existence inevitable, it was, in fact, a very fragile thing. Like so many previous initiatives to make the Internet easy to use, it could have disappeared without a trace. What made the difference and why did the Web win? An implausibly large number of things had to go right for the Web to win and against all odds they did. This book documents the critical formative years of the World Wide Web from 1993 to 1995 from the point of view of one of the masterminds behind this victory for human freedom.
