An Australian police officer goes overseas with a priest to investigate a mob boss and end up on the run as a result. This is a crime thriller of note. The writing is good and the characters are mostly believable - although the bad guy was a bit exaggerated. The concept itself of a police detective going overseas to catch a criminal is mostly okay, there are some elements that don't make sense but for the most part it works just fine. Readers will be kept on the edge of their seats while reading; it's an adrenaline rush like no other. If you need something thrilling to read, then definitely give this one a go.
This fun international thriller took me from England to Australia for a great ride of a read. I found the scenes vivid and gritty, with lots of realistic dialogue. The plot galloped right along, and kept me turning the pages. Overall the style and pace reminded me of some great books like 36 Hours, Postmortem, and Body of Evidence.
This book is among the grittiest of this season’s crime novels, and the writing was convincing, chilling. The author reminds me a lot of Patricia Cornwall, a strong favorite.

Killing Faith was an engaging crime mystery, that had me hooked from the very beginning. Melissa was an interesting main character, who was a believable detective with strength and intelligence. Her investigation soon becomes perilous, as she lands herself in danger — leaving the audience on pins and needles. I thought the characters were well developed and the crime, investigation and reporting were all realistic and gritty, taking the reader on a spine-tingling good ride.
Killing Faith by B.J. Woster is a page turner for sure. If you enjoy crime mysteries and thrillers than you should surely purchase this to read. It encompasses a British detective trying to prove herself to her bosses and establish her career. It hits all the must haves of crime thrillers- an impossible murder to solve, big bad mafia guys who torture for fun, a strong willed detective that wants to do right for the victim and a thrilling “how to catch the bad guy” story line from start to finish. While the books is an easy read it does need to be paid attention to as character perspectives and timelines change on a whim with little notice to announce the change. At times I found myself going back to double check who was telling their story and where the story was taking place. I do want to point out that readers have to be open minded and remember that this is a work of fiction and that it is not meant to follow true police procedure. Yes it is highly unlikely that a British detective, a basic detective, would travel to other countries and investigate a murder without the notification and assistance of the local police at least. The book is captivating and you find yourself rooting for Melissa to solve her case, make her name for herself in her career and wondering how it will turn out for all the characters involved. If you enjoy the crime genre this is a good pick for you!
I have never really turned to crime books so this one was definitely a new one for me. I think this is a classic murder mystery with a good amount of twists and turns. There was a lot of suspense from the reading which I feel could be difficult for a reader to capture as opposed to visually seeing suspense on television. I was able to follow along well with the reading and found it easy to understand. I love that we have have a female detective as a main character. I feel like a police station has a lot of male presence but that did not stop sergeant Melissa from doing her job. I would recommend this to anyone who loves crime and mystery.
Suspenseful? Yes. Twists and turns? Yes and yes. The story unravels in a compelling slow-burn, and as a reader I found my self turning pages faster and faster. Like unexpected guests joining your campfire, new characters are introduced and you find yourself first curious, then compelled to uncover how they fit into the larger narrative. I loved it! Well done!
I'm not a big fan off crime thrillers but this book is certainly an exception.This is one of the cleverest mysteries I have ever read. The plot is dazzling and its execution is flawless. The book may seem a bit confusing at beginning due to all the jumbled up information but everything falls in place as we move through the chapters.
The protagonist of the book Melisa travel to a different country in order to investigate an enigmatic crime mystery. Even-though she didn't get any help from the law enforcement in alien country, she was still strong believer of her instincts and done everything in her wits to catch the murderer and to prove her worth to superiors. Nothing more can be said about the story or plot, or anything for that matter, without dropping a major spoiler but trust me this book is a total gem and it keeps readers engaged till the end and I'm truly impressed by the craftsmanship of B.J woster in this particular story; She really knows how to paint a picture with words and has explained each and every character in a very detailed and profound manner. Although, the book contains lot of complicated and strange words which may require a bit research from the reader side but the overall plot of the book supersedes the ambiguity of words.
overall, it's entertaining and a quick read and if I didn’t have to work I probably would’ve finished it in one sitting.So, i would recommend this to anyone who has slightest of their interest in crime mysteries or detective novels, it's a real teat for eyes.
