Learning How to Fly: A Speed Reel Journey Toward Life's Purpose
BRITT LIND, author
Adult; Memoir; (Market)
Learning How to Fly is the story of Britt Lind’s journey from her childhood in Norway to the rewarding and often heartbreaking world of Hollywood. It outlines the ups and downs of her acting career and takes the reader from Los Angeles, to Seattle, New York and back to Hollywood as the vicissitudes of life had her searching for meaning and fulfillment as an actress and, more important, as a person. The book is filled with humor and stories of her friendships with famous actors and the people who helped her along the way. The climax of the book takes place in New York when, guided by the leader of the gospel group she was singing with, and by her pastor at Marble Collegiate Church, she finally realizes that she already has everything she needs, and God was guiding her life exactly where it was supposed to go.
The purpose of the book is first, to entertain and then to inspire actors, singers, musicians and dancers, and everyone who has a special talent and pours their heart and soul into achieving success then falls short of their expectations. It seeks to reassure them that, beyond their passion for their work, and a desperate need to succeed, there is also a purpose to life; a special God-given calling which gives meaning to our lives, and if we pay close attention, God will let us know what that is. No matter how many mistakes we make or how discouraged and down we may become, we all have a place on this earth where our own special talent will be put to good use. All we have to do is say yes.
