Mistress Mackintosh and the Shaw Wretch is a smart, sweet and tightly plotted Highland romance. I fell in love with the heroine, Jory, right away - she is intelligent and self-aware with a terrific sense of humor. I especially appreciated how Prendeville included her scoliosis, making it part of how Jory developed, but not a stumbling block to her growth. Our hero, Finn, is a cinnamon roll with an edge and I was here for it.
The writing is smart and skillful, the plot engaging and who doesn’t love a road-trip romance? I thoroughly enjoyed Mistress Mackintosh and am looking forward to the next installment of the Brides of Chattan.
Determined heroine, sympathetic hero - up to a point - with an excellent mix of hijinks and danger. Rose Prendeville is an author to watch and Mistress Mackintosh and the Shaw Wretch is a delightful historical romance. Highly recommend!
