This book was incredible!!! Within the first few pages I was hooked. The author weaved such a wonderful story and developed characters that made me feel like I knew them. Cam, the lead in this story, is such a fun and wonderful character. No whimpering, lame lovesick stuff here, Cam is awesome! Each chapter was tied to a county song, which was pretty incredible. I have never read a book like it, one that uses music and words to covey its meaning. Listening to the songs isn't necessary, the author develops the story expertly, but listening to the songs in conjunction with the story was just so cool. Every emotion I felt, the laughter, the anger, the tears and the heart break. I sit here now, having finished the book, hoping that this isn't the last I see of these characters. I truly loved this book, even though it broke my heart, and made me cry, lol. Ah, but that is a true testament to a great storyteller. I am an avid reader, I go through books like crazy and I am always looking for new great authors, I have found exactly that here. I can not WAIT to read more from LJ Evans!!! MORE PLEASE!!!!
Ms. Evans took my breath away. She took my heart and soul and rearranged it with the lyrical fluidity of Jake and Cami's journey.
This is a story that will stay with you. It will grab your heart and captivate it not only whilst you are reading it...but afterwards, too. There are phrases that will stay with you especially if you are from the south or have ever lived in the south. She paints pictures that you'll see in your mind with her words. She appeals to the reader through all the five senses.
