This debut release provides a wonderful new addition to the amateur-sleuthing world.
Emma, who loves to be with her sister's German Shepherds more than with people, is being framed for murder. Then multiple murders. A newcomer-scapegoat all-in-one get-out clause for the real murderer, perhaps?
Armed with only the dogs, her sister, and a lawyer friend, Emma must search for the real culprit so she can prove her innocence. Because even the swoon-worthy policeman (who she has fallen in love with) suspects her of murder...
Although this book could stand as complete on its own - as it answers all the questions it poses - I am very pleased to say that the author assures me there will be more adventures for the crew in Breezy Bay.
[I was given a copy of this book to read in advance in exchange for my honest review. As with any murder-mystery, there is an element of 'leave reality at the door'. There were also a few places where the Canadian didn't directly translate into the British. I took a bit of a gamble being an ARC reviewer for this book as, between them, these twin difficulties had the potential to ruin the story for me BUT THEY DIDN'T. I only stumbled twice, both quite early on, and (from email exchanges with the author) both stumbling blocks appear to be 'common-in-Canada, strange-in-Britain' things. Therefore I say: GSD stands for German Shepherd Dog, formerly known as Alsatians in the UK; and a Canadian person walks *their* dogs, regardless of who actually owns the dogs (eg neighbour, friend, sister). Also, truffles are a big thing in parts of Canada, and part of the local culture at all levels of society in those areas.]
