Reconnecting with America: A Stranger at Home is a reflection on life, culture and politics as seen from the perspective of a returning expat. After living in Europe for fifteen years the author set out to reconnect with his two sons and his country. The story describes the author’s 8,000 mile motorcycle journey from Massachusetts to California and back and the people he met along the way. The author explores what Americans care about and why and examines some curiosities of American culture. The author probes the American populist movement. He concludes that some Americans fear the country is losing its soul, others are afraid they will lose the things they have worked to accumulate. The struggle between the two ideologies defines the culture.
