This is the book that started it all. When I first opened the book, I noticed an extensive cast list and I thought- Hmm. What is this? It did come in handy during the course of this first book because there are a lot of characters! By now, I've bought, read and loved the prequel and 7 books in the series and I know these people like close, dear friends but in the beginning it helped to reference who a character was and more importantly how they fit into the story.
I read alot and R.L. Dunn has jumped from a- who is this? to- Oh my goodness this is great! I look forward to each new addition! This is first and foremost a story of love- yes, there is a romantic story of 2 people but there is also the love of a group of retired SEALS who formed a company to protect the innocent. The continuing devotion of these men to each other and the ever-widening expanse of medical personnel and great men and women to their group is heart warming in a way that we all need- a friend that has your back- ALWAYS.
This is a intelligently written story of high intensity suspense, medical detail and of course, the romance of a special man and woman. Thank Goodness, the author does not lean on the overtired-trope of a misunderstanding that breaks the couple apart only to come back together when they finally COMMUNICATE. Give the book a try. I think you will love it like I do!
