Seldom Heard Quotes
C Howard Diaz, author
I originally came up with the idea for this short coffee table book of quotes back in 1993. I filed the quotes and commented on each one myself or added another person's writing for a few. Most comments are mine. I made copies and sent a shorter version to people I knew who would appreciate it. I have cited almost all the quotes, and anything I say in the comments is my opinion, whether it is cited or not. If you disagree with anything I say, you take the time to find your argument, I already satisfied my search for the answers over the 86 years of my life. You will notice the same sentence, statistic, or thought repeated in a few places. That's not a mistake; it is a point relevant to the quote I'm commenting on. I'm publishing it today, 2023, and I decided not to re-write it. While I did tweak it a bit, everything I said back then still applies today, and that's what makes it so interesting to me. These words were said, and most of you never heard it when it was said. The old saying about knowing our history is often attributed to the philosopher George Santayana and goes as follows: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." This book will take you to a time when the environmental, anti-population, anti-logging, and anti-nuclear gang were just getting started. They said things that will shock you. And you need to be shocked. Just keep it on your coffee table. When there is a lull in the conversation turn to any page. The conversation will warm up.
