Assessment:
Plot: While there are some interesting stories to be had in Silhouettes of Time, many of them struggle with meandering narratives that jostle readers from one POV to the next, that undercut dramatic tension, often concluding with predictable finales.
Prose/Style: There are flourishes of descriptive whimsy throughout, but these are mostly disguised under a rather mechanical format that may dissuade some readers.
Originality: Das wrangles together an interesting bevy of narratives, but the magic struggles to manifest fully due to stoic prose, and light character work.
Character Development/Execution: Das's characters are clearly born from a love of home and history, but struggle to build lives of their own due to emotionally-blunted arcs and a stalled sense of character development.
