You are transported back and forth across the ocean following the lives of the men at war in Europe and their families left behind in Canada. The story carries on from Jenny’s previous 2 books in the By the Light of the Moon series, but this book is easily a stand alone book on it’s own. I got totally immersed in the story, anxious to find out which men would make it back home and how their families held up while waiting at home. Jenny’s books are getting better and better with each one that I read. I’m already looking forward to Harvest Moon and the character introduced in the epilogue. I can’t imagine the amount of research Jenny must do in order to write a historically accurate novel such as this. My hat off to her for her skills and the gripping tale that she takes us on in Silver Moon.”–Laobeau

“As one who enjoys historical fiction, I’ve been looking forward to Jenny Knipfer’s third book in the trilogy “By the Light of the Moon.” She did not disappoint in “Silver Moon,” a story based in Canada at the time of WWI. The stories of the men, women, and families depicted gave me a real feeling of the times and lives of the early 20th century. Using a split timeline Knipfer’s characters deal with separation as the men go off to the trenches in Europe and the women band together to support their loved ones. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy a story about warfare but the storyline and the beautiful characters are what set this book apart. I’ll give it 5 stars!”–Rudys First

Silver Moon is a work of fiction set in the historical and dramatic sub-genres and was penned by author Jenny Knipfer. The third novel in the By the Light of the Moon series, the book is recommended for more mature readers due to the presence of some scenes of wartime violence and serious injury. Set in an unusual and under-represented corner of World War 1, the book covers the exploits and experiences of three men who belong to the Canadian Expeditionary Force, as well as the people they must leave behind back in Webaashi Bay, Ontario. This varied cast recounts the true cost of war, the power of love and belief, and the fortitude of the human spirit against times of crisis.
Author Jenny Knipfer has crafted an absolutely stunning historical piece that stands alone and can be enjoyed by anyone who loves strong interpersonal drama. I love works set during World War 1 because it’s such an interesting and unprecedented time, and to see the realism and emotional intelligence with which Knipfer writes really warms the heart, even in the most tragic moments of the story. The central characters are all powerful and heroic in their own ways, but I felt most for Oshki and Jimmy in the trenches. The descriptions of the physical experiences and hardships there were visceral and vivid and stayed with me for a long time after I finished the book. Overall, Silver Moon is a highly recommended read for fans of historical wartime fiction, powerful emotive drama, and excellent atmospheric writing.

"Silver Moon is the third novel in the By the Light the Moon series by Jenny Knipfer. The story follows men and women at the time of World War I and shows their battles. Luis didn’t want to go to war, but he was shamed into joining up. A seemingly innocuous-looking woman with striking green eyes gave him a white feather, but she left a huge mark on his mind. He joined the cause, but that was the start of his hell. War is not easy on anyone, so why would Luis be any different? Back at home in Webaashi Bay, Lily is fighting in her own way. She gathers the women in their little community so that they can do their part in making sure the world is a little saner when the men come back from the war. There is chaos everywhere and only the brave will survive.
"I am stunned by the amount of detail the author gave in this single story. On one hand, we have powerful characters that are masters of their destiny and on the other, we have a plot that demands all our attention. Jenny Knipfer pulls no punching and holds nothing back. I was hooked from the moment I read the prologue. I knew I was going to love Luis for his simplicity and his characteristics. He is a believable character, changed by his circumstances, and hardened by the life he led. Oshki and his journey lay the foundation for the next novel in the series. The flow is seamless, there is a confidence in the way the author writes and makes sure that the reader is just as invested in the story as she is. There are a lot of characters in Silver Moon, yet none of them distracts the reader. The author has some serious writing skills to make it look so easy. I really enjoyed this book!"
