I thought this was a pacy, fun thriller. It's more tightly written than its predecessor, Seven Lives, and has a more fulfilling ending - as well as teeing up the next book in the series. While it helps to have read the first book to understand some of the characters and background I don't think it's essential in order to enjoy this novel. The story stands up in its own right even though it's part of a larger story arc. If you haven't read either of these books I'd start here and then go back to Seven Lives if you enjoy this book.
