Excellent crime/mystery story, kept me turning the pages. Burns has created a fascinating lead character--Nattie McMasters. She's young, sexy and courageous. That makes her a tough cookie but her weaknesses make her so much more interesting. She's hard-headed, naive and sexually-conflicted. The story is written in first person, so the reader gets to see Nattie's point of view as she throws herself into a seedy world to solve a murder. I felt intrigued and entertained by this story and Nattie's tendency to put herself in danger. She's an inspiring combination of capability and vulnerability, with a large dose of sex appeal thrown in.
A fascinating book that will keep you captivated. It's a great detective thriller with a plot that develops at a neck-breaking pace coupled with a superb writing. Each chapter sucks you into the story more and more until you realize that it's impossible to put this book down. Well worth the money.
