‘Sudden Death’ is just a theme park ride.
Until it isn’t.
Fresh off his first Marine deployment, Boone must now choose between two schools: Intelligence or Scout Sniper. Though he’s shown clear aptitude for the second, he’s not sure he has what it takes to do the job.
When he puts the decision aside to join his buddies on a day of leave, the last thing Boone expects to see is a naval weapons locker in the hands of a man who is clearly not Navy. On impulse, he shadows the man, only to find himself running for his life… smack into a Unit operator.
Now he has two options: join the fight or remain behind. But the choice he’s been given is really no choice at all. For the only way to save the park is for Boone to embrace his calling.
The fate of thousands rests on this one decision.
He’d better make it a good one.
Assessment:
Plot: Sudden Death is a seamlessly plotted military sci-if story packed with twists and turns. The tension is high, and doesn’t let up until the conclusion.
Prose/Style: The book is well-paced, with an even blend of dialogue, exposition, and sharp description.
Originality: Richman shows a fine knack for staging an action story as seemingly ordinary events escalate to exceptional circumstances.
Character Development/Execution: Richman’s characters are well constructed and effectively play off one another in the world they inhabit. Protagonist Boone makes for a compelling hero as a day of leave unexpectedly determines the course of his future.

5 STARS.
I LOVED this book! It’s exciting, thoughtful, and full of action and original solutions to big problems. Boone’s story lets us really get to know him while also making it very clear why he gets invited to join a special forces unit.

Richman gives readers an unashamedly pure military action thriller that abounds with guns blazing, bad guys, rescues, lots of scrapes and bruises, using weapons lovers of the military genre will drool over. L.L. Richman does not complicate his plot with too much characterization, having the action do their talking."
"Written in an easy-to-read style, with a smooth narrative and dialogue, everything hangs together without plot stumbles. For readers who love undiluted action, they will find a home experiencing the thrills of Sudden Death."
