"this was exactly what I needed toread right now and I devoured it in just one evening. With us allneeding to lean on our friends a little bit more right now witheverything going on and the effects it has on our day to day lives, theimportance of friendship cannot be disputed.
I loved the idea of the 50/50 friendship flow. Shari metwith 50 of her girlfriends and told them what they meant to her and howthey've shaped a part of her life. What I loved about this was therewasn't just women of a similar age or a similar social status. Therewere women of all races, all ages, different types of jobs. She evenspoke with her daughter about what she's learned from her and I thoughtthat was so lovely.
A little bit of appreciation goes a long way and it is nice to see the author appreciating her friends in this way and letting them know how she feels. I also love that it has encouraged some of therecipients of this to start the challenge themselves."

After surviving a breast cancer diagnosis and a double mastectomy, former lawyer Shari Leid took stock of her life and her relationships. The result is a book called 'The 50/50 Friendship Flow: Life Lessons From and For My Girlfriends' and it details a journey Shari went on when she decided to to sit down one-on-one with 50 friends over the course of 1 year to share the positive impact they had made in her life. Fox 8's Stefani Schaefer spoke with Sheri Leid about this journey and the important lessons learned.
As the song says, “You’ve got to have friends.” But in today’s busy world, it is often easy to overlook the value of those friendships. After a cancer diagnosis, lawyer-turned-life coach Shari Leid realized that she wanted her friends to know how much they meant to her. So she made a list of 50 women and sat down with each one, face to face, to tell them what they had done for her. Not only did it change her life and the lives of her friends, but it led to the book The 50/50 Friendship Flow: Life Lessons From and For My Girlfriends.
This week, Shari joins us to talk about how this mission changed her life and how you can use the same process to deepen your own friendships and discover greater gratitude in your life.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why everyone in your life is either a student or a teacher.
How deepening your friendships improves your happiness.
Why creating your own Friendship Challenge is even more important during a time of COVID-19.

The 50/50 Friendship Flow details the personal challenge the author embarked on by sitting down one-on-one with 50 friends over the course of one year to share the positive impact they had made in her life. Shari Leid reveals that by taking on this meaningful challenge yourself, you will discover everyone you meet is both your teacher and your student, the feelings of happiness and enrichment as you deepen your friendships, and the purpose and life lessons each person has brought into your life. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shari has continued with her #5050FriendshipFlowChallenge and is currently meeting with her girlfriends via Zoom to ask, “What is the ‘mess’ that became your ‘message?’”
