This time travel tale is told from several points of view. A little girl, who has a habit of losing things, is complaining to her sister that she left her "bear" on her dad's workbench. Her "bear" is really a stuffed koala toy.
When Dad comes home, he spins an elaborate yarn that traces the mystery of the missing koala. The time travel adventure meets up with a cat, Bigfoot, werewolves, a dragon, aliens from Area 51, a few spies, pixies, and a genie.
Each of these personified characters has an interaction with the stuffed koala. The big question is, why did the stuffed bear leave her owner and will they ever be reunited? Does dad have a good reason for spinning the elaborate tale?
These colorful characters that are amazingly well-drawn and the intricate plot in fewer than a dozen chapters are a good choice for late elementary school and middle-grade readers. In fact, it is so well-done adults will enjoy reading as much as their younger charges.
