The Book of Khaleel: Collected Poems 2006-2020 is a poem anthology from poet, journalist, and writer Khaleel the Writer, showcasing spiritual and human qualities such as hunger, praise, love, frustration, heartache, sex, coming of age, culture, prayer, introversion, perfectionism and more within the span of 14 years. It also serves as a love letter to music, historical figures and pop culture (i.e. Malcolm X, Denzel Washington, Spider-Man, Demi Lovato, Prince, Janis Joplin, Jay-Z, Harry Potter, Al Pacino, Eminem, etc.) Each poem follows a raw and personal hip hop-esque style that is mostly free-verse or tackles a variety of traditional (and sometimes non-traditional) poetic forms such as sonnets, cinquains, haikus, villanelles, and even a sestina.
