When his mother, consumed with personal problems, disappears from his life, Martin Tuck struggles with self-esteem, until the Nicknocker, elfin maker of house noises, appears, presenting him with new ways of coping; but when the local forest, which also happens to be the Nicknocker’s home is threatened, Martin and his friends must team up to save it and, in the process, Martin discovers his own true value.
